Dark Souls and Blasphemous collide in this Steam demo you can try now

If you’re in the market for a 2D platformer in the vein of games like Blasphemous, Castlevania, and Dark Souls, the upcoming Skelethrone might just be for you. With plenty of non-linear Metroidvania progression and a 2D combat system clearly inspired by the work of FromSoftware, the game’s free Steam demo is definitely worth a shot.

Pacific Drive isn’t just a good driving game – it’s the antidote to your daily commute

With a flash of light, the car warps back into existence. It gently rolls forwards, before coming to a sudden halt with a metallic thud, as it bumps into a dumpster. I try to throw the beaten and battered thing into reverse, so I can pull it into the garage.

It doesn’t budge when I touch the pedals. Confused, I get out and walk around to open the bonnet. There is no bonnet. More importantly, there’s no engine in the engine bay.

My latest trip into Pacific Drive’s Olympic Exclusion Zone has gone even worse than I thought.

Reogen is using a Raspberry Pi Pico W to create a custom Bluetooth adapter for an old Atari 2600, enabling support for wireless controllers.

Missed out on the last Zenless Zone Zero beta? Then you might want to sign up for the next one

If you missed out on the previous Zenless Zone Zero beta test, developer miHoYo is holding another one.

Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail’s miHoYo is keeping itself busy, as outside of the two free-to-play titles, it’s also still working on the Jet Set Radio-esque Zenless Zone Zero (even the names feel similar). Last year, the game held a closed beta test which, if you were lucky enough to be accepted, let you try out the upcoming roguelite, and now the developer has announced it will be holding another one. You can already sign up to take part in the beta test over on the game’s website right now, though it should be noted you need to be 16 or older to take part.

Notably, there’s also a prize draw that actually has some pretty good sounding bits – you could win a rug, a $50 GoGift Card, a phone stand, a finger skateboard charm, a folder set, and even a PS5. You get higher chances of winning for every five friends that you invite, so those of you with lots of friends that are also interested in playing Zenless Zone Zero will probably have a better chance than the rest of us. Also important to note is that signing up for the test won’t guarantee you entry, so don’t be too disappointed if you aren’t selected (plus, the game is due out in 2024, so it’s likely not too far away anyway).

Binding of Isaac style magical roguelike surges on Steam after update

The Binding of Isaac remains one of the most fundamental pillars of the modern roguelike, leading us into plenty more top-down games with bullet hell elements including Enter the Gungeon, Nuclear Throne, Children of Morta, and ultimately even the likes of Hades. Released via Steam Early Access in November 2023, Magicraft is one such game with very promising ideas, blending a unique spellcrafting system reminiscent of the likes of Noita or Magicka with that familiar Isaac-style perspective.
